With a population of approximately 16,000, Bonaire is a special municipality within the countries of the Netherlands and is governed under the laws of Holland. With a colorful history dating back to 1000 AD, the island is known for its world class diving, snorkeling, windsurfing and kite boarding which are all surrounded by a pristine reef environment which is recognized by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration.
